The Scarlet Monster is an animated short film talking about the emotion of "fear of death", using a common experience, the loss of a family member in a fantasy setting: the sudden appearance of a red monster, a dead rabbit in a toy room, a moth wrapped in a light bulb as a metaphor for real feelings. The animation tells the story of "I" seeing the red monster that appeared in my childhood when my grandfather was seriously ill, but in the end, it disappeared at his funeral. Death is like a shadow of the living, and we will always have a fear or awe of the unknown that can only be seen on the surface.
