People may always want to live somewhere else. Or, at least, to experience the joys of living elsewhere. I often feel grateful to be given the opportunity from work to explore a land or a city I’ve never explored before, and enjoy the scenery there.

In June, we spent a few days in Venice for an exhibition in a church. In September, another trip to Palermo, Sicily. In November we were leaving for the border ports, Trieste.

What is the wind like in that city, what does it sound like in the morning, the markets, the buildings, the scenery.

Different cities in Italy, with different cultures from history, have very different colours and flavours. The sights are different, and they sound different.

Maybe I want to capture these subtle differences and infuse them into the soul of the work someday.
